COLORADO SPRINGS (November 16, 2014) – The Adams State University women's swimming and diving team continue to impress as the Grizzlies posted a convincing 137-91 meet victory over the Colorado College Tigers.
Adams State claimed first place in 10 of the 12 individual competitions and also bested the Tigers in the 200 yard medley relay and the 400 yard freestyle relay.
A total of four ASU swimmers took home first place in a pair of events.
Marissa Mantzey took first in the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 24.52 and swam to first in the 100 yard freestyle in 54.21.
In the 200 yard butterfly,
Erica Norton touched the wall with a final time of 2:15.00 to beat out Ellen Silk of Colorado College by two seconds. Norton followed with another top finish in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:16.24.
Alexis Divelbiss dominated in the 400 yard IM in 4:54.11 as the second place finisher trailed the freshman's efforts by 12 seconds. Divelbiss added another resounding win in the 200 yard backstroke in 2:32.87.
In the 1000 yard freestyle
Tara Grebert pulled ahead of the competition with a first place time of 11:20.06. Grebert's endurance was tested and proven again during the 500 yard freestyle en route to taking first place in 5:34.64.
ASU now preps for a Nov. 22 conference meet with Colorado State University-Pueblo at 1:00 p.m. from Plachy Hall Pool.
