Box Score 3 Alamosa, Colo. — The Adams State men and women swim teams competed in two meets this weekend. On Friday the Grizzlies were at home against the University of Texas Permian Basin and on Saturday they headed to Pueblo for the CSU Pueblo Triangular against CSU Pueblo and Colorado School of Mines.
Friday's Highlights
After 22 events the final scoring of the meet on Friday favored UTPB. On the men's side the final score was UTPB - 156 and Adams State - 42. The Grizzlies had three top 2 finishes. George Lutkenhaus was 1 second off of his personal best and placed 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle, swimming a time of 1:53.87. Matt Tidwell also had a good race in the 500 yard freestyle. He came into this race unseeded but finished 2nd with a time of 5:20.45. To wrap things up on a high note, the men also placed 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle relay, finishing just seconds behind UTPB's A team.
On the women's side the final score was UTPB - 114 and Adams State - 78. The Grizzlies won 6 events. Jocelyn Jones won the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.73, Anjali Friedman won the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:21.98, Hannah Zimmer won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 59.25, Peyton Schwartz won the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.76, and Anjali Friedman also won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.09. In Friedman's 100 yard breaststroke she bettered the field by roughly 8 seconds.
CSU Pueblo Triangular
On Saturday the Grizzlies competed in 22 more events, this time in Pueblo. The final scoring on the men's side was Colorado School of Mines - 178 and Adams State - 26. On the women's side the final scoring was CSUP - 145 and Adams State 40, Colorado School of Mines - 146 and Adams State - 39.
Both the men's and the women's 200 yard medley relays were close, however, Adams State finished just seconds shy of a podium spot respectively. On the women's side Jocelyn Jones had a good meet. She competed in the 100 yard freestyle, the 200 yard freestyle, and the 200 yard medley relay. Anjali Friedman also had a very busy day, competing in the 200 yard medley relay, the 400 yard IM, and the 200 yard breaststroke. On the men's side George Lutkenhaus had a good day competing. He competed in the 50 and 500 yard freestyle, as well as, the 400 yard freestyle relay.
Next Up
The Grizzlies will be off next weekend, but will be back in action November 3-4 for the University of Nebraska at Kearney Invitational.
