SWIM | Grizzlies close out RMAC Championship

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's and Women's Swim team are competing in the final day of the four-day RMAC Swimming Championship. This is the last meet of the season for the Grizzlies. Both the Men's and Women's team have persevered through some hard times this season, including not being able to practice in their own pool and practicing in a very cold pool.

For the Women's team, in the 100 Yard Freestyle, Kyler James placed 28th, Ryan Bustos placed 29th, Hannah Zimmer placed 30th, Hope Christensen placed 31st, Katy Rose Heldstab placed 34th, and Kaycey Stephen placed 36th.  Zimmer was the only Grizzly to compete in the 200 Yard Backstroke and she finished with a final time of 2:30.58 which landed her in 26th place. Anjali Friedman swam excellently as she placed 12th in the 200 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 2:32.44. Samantha Buttermore swam the 1650 Yard Freestyle in 22:17.53 seconds, which landed her in 14th place.

Just as the Women's team did in the 100 Yard Freestyle, the Men's team finished right after each other. George Lukenhaus Jr. placed in 19th place, Eddie Duran placed in 20th, Kaden Scott placed in 21st, and Joshua Jones placed in 22nd in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Connor Mathews finished in 14th place in the 200 Yard Backstroke with a final time of 2:11.90. in the 200 Yard Breaststroke Gilbert Brenton finished in 15th place with a time of 2:21.77 and behind him was Grizzly teammate, Jacob Miller, with a final time of 2:34.25. In the 1650 Yard Freestyle, Indiana Sterving finished in 4th place with a time of 18:05.38.

The Men's Swimmer of the Meet was Victor Rosado (Oklahoma Christian), who scored 77 points in his four individual events.

The Women's Swimmer of the Meet was Lily Borgenheimer (Colorado Mesa), who scored 80 points in her four individual events.

The Men's Diver of the Meet was Isaiah Cheeks (Colorado Mesa), who won both diving events and scored 40 points.

The Women's Co-Divers of the meet were Jolynn Harris & Ali Lange (both of Colorado Mesa), who each had a first and second place finish while scoring 37 points each.

The RMAC "Of the Year" Major Awards will be determined by a coach's vote and determined at a later date (after Nationals).
