Box Score LAS VEGAS, N.M. (April 24, 2016) – It was a Sunday to remember for Adams State University who dealt New Mexico Highlands University a 14-5 defeat. The blowout win gives Adams State their fifth series win of the 2016 campaign.

The Grizzlies (18-24, 13-15 RMAC) scored in all but three innings with the lead expanding to 14-1 midway through the seventh.

After a Zach Moldenhauer RBI single in the first, Adams State opened the floodgates with a four-run third followed by three runs apiece during the fourth and fifth. Throughout the contest it was Moldenhauer who led the way with a 3-for-5 day with four RBI and two runs scored. The trio of Evan Weidner, Deven Nelson, and Tyler Thurston chipped in two RBI apiece as the Grizzlies tallied 16 hits in the series finale.

In the four-run third, the Grizzlies tallied five hits with Weidner, Moldenhauer, and Dillon Bollig each picking up a RBI single. Further damage could have been done but the frame quickly ended with a groundout double play.

With the offense on cruise control, ASU starting pitcher Josh Keaton (2-5) turned in one of his best performances of the season. Keaton hindered the Cowboys to just one hit through four innings as the junior finished with seven strikeouts in 6.1 innings on the mound. Keaton was eventually pulled for reliever Dylan Sherry after giving up three runs in the seventh. The Cowboy scoring did little to interrupt the route as the Grizzlies cruised to the game's finish with a 14-5 win.

With Sunday's win the Grizzlies end the season with a 5-2 record against the Cowboys.

Adams State remains on the road next weekend for a three-game series against Regis University. First pitch of game one is slated for 3pm on April 29th.
