VB| Preview For Mesa And Western

ALAMOSA, Colorado– The Adams State University volleyball team will wrap up its four game road trip this weekend against Colorado Mesa on Friday at 7:00PM and at Western State Saturday at 6:00PM.

Recently In Adams State Volleyball:
It has been a tough stretch for the Grizzlies as they have not won a set since September 16th's win over Black Hills State 3-2 in Alamosa. Metro State and UCCS defeated Adams last weekend 3-0 each to drop ASU to 6-7, 2-2 RMAC. The silver lining in this slump has been Gabrielle Timmen who moved into third place in career digs for Adams State last Saturday after adding 21 assists to her new total of 1,154. Timmen is also second in the RMAC this season in digs with 215.

About Colorado Mesa:
The Mavericks are one of the RMAC's best teams this season. Sitting at 9-3, 3-1, CMU is ranked third in the conference. Two of the team's three losses were against ranked teams, while only one was at home. In their last game, the Mavericks beat Chadron 3-0. MacKenzie Edwards will lead the team offensively with 163 kills.

Last Meeting:
The last contest between the two teams was on October 1st, 2016 in Alamosa where the Mavericks were victorious 3-1. In the game, Katelyn Schwartz had 37/39 of all of Adam State's assists on the night. Coincidentally, the loss that night sparked a four game losing streak.

About Western State:
The Mountaineers should not be the toughest competition on the schedule this year to put it nicely. At 1-12, 0-4 RMAC, they are ranked last in the conference. The team is currently on a four game losing streak since its last and only win against Northwest Oklahoma State who is 11-5 on the season strangely enough. Hanna Hendrickson will distribute the ball for Western with her 332 assists.

Last Meeting:
Last year's September 30th meeting in Alamosa was a thriller with ASU coming out on top 3-2. After taking the first two sets, the Grizzlies then dropped two before cruising 15-8 in the fifth. Schwartz again had 37 assists on the night.
