ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Grizzlies Men's Soccer team enters their final weekend of the 2018 season, preparing for an away game against CSU-Pueblo before traveling back down to Alamosa for their senior game against Colorado Mesa. Adams State is 0-10-2 in conference play on the year, 0-14-2 overall.
This weekend will be all about the seniors, as
Brady Freehill and
Manolo Coley prepare to play their final games in an Adams State Grizzly uniform. Both have shown leadership and poise, directing a young team that has struggled this season, mainly on the offensive side.
Freehill came back for his fifth-year season after a serious knee injury derailed his 2017 campaign, and through that adversity he has exemplified what it means to be a Grizzly by showing resiliency in the midst of a tough situation.
Coley has been a consistent contributor this season for the young Grizzlies, and has been a key part of the rotation for a number of years since he arrived from Tucson, Arizona in 2015. Like Freehill, he has remained a constant leader in the midst of a tough season. He leaves behind a young and talented roster in good shape for 2019.
This weekend's matchups feature a rematch against CSU-Pueblo, a team that the Grizzlies tied and are very capable of beating this time around. It will be their final road game of the season.
Colorado Mesa presents a unique challenge for the Grizzlies, as they have not yet faced their cross-state conference foe in the 2018 season. Fans can expect an intense game in what will be the final opportunity for the Grizzlies this season, and senior leaders
Brady Freehill and
Manolo Coley will be honored before the match, in what will be their final game on the Adams State pitch.
Adams State faces CSU-Pueblo at 7 p.m. Thursday in Pueblo before returning home for the finale against Colorado Mesa at 11 a.m. Saturday from the Adams State Soccer Field
