ALAMOSA, Colo. -- The Adams State Women's Swim team open their 2018-19 season at home against the Colorado Mesa University Mavericks on Friday, Oct 26. Adams State finished eighth in the Coaches Preseason Poll, where Colorado Mesa finished first.
Last year in the season opener, the Grizzlies fell to the Mavericks 144-56. Adams State is hoping to flip things around this year.
The Grizzlies have a very young team this year. They only have five upperclassmen: two seniors,
Gwynaedd Howdyshell and
Libby Weeks, and three juniors,
Kayle Mashore,
Madison Rincon, and
Shelby Nelson. The experience of the five upperclassmen and the five returning sophomores will lead this team this season.
Of these sophomores,
Megan Dudden,
Paige McCaskill, and
Claudia Garcia will all play a major role in this team. There are also nine bright freshmen joining the Grizzlies this season. Coming off of a sixth place RMAC finish, the Grizzlies are looking to prove themselves and continue moving up.
The meet will begin at 2 p.m. in Plachy Hall. Â The schedule of the meet is listed below.
