ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Women's Swim team fell short to Colorado Mesa University in the first meet of the year. The No. 8 ranked Mav's came out on top with 161-44 win.
The dual opened up with the 200 Yard Medley Relay. The four-man Grizzly team of
Emma-Joy Montana,
Claudia Garcia,
Megan Dudden and
Avery Wilson finished in 3rd. Colorado Mesa teams took the top two finishes.
The Grizzlies had three swimmers in the 40 lap, 1000 yard freestyle. Adams State's
Paige McCaskill finished with a 11:53.41 time, coming in 3rd. Adams State's
Claudia Garcia came in a very close 2nd in the 50 yard freestyle. Garcia finished in 25.27 seconds, .2 seconds behind Mav's first place finisher.
Sophomore,
Megan Dudden gave the Grizzlies their first 1st place finish of the meet in the 200 yard IM. Dudden finished in 2:14.6, which competes with a previous school record. Dudden finished in front of three Mavericks giving the Grizzlies nine points toward the team total.
Dudden also finished in 3rd in the 100 yard Breaststroke. It was a close finish, with two Mavs finishing in 1:08.41, 1:08.64, and Dudden finishing in 1:09:85.
The young Grizzlies swam hard, competing against Colorado Mesa. Adams State will jump in to the pool at home again on Saturday, Nov 10 at 12 p.m. against Western Colorado University.
