ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adams State Women's Swim team goes head to head against Colorado School of Mines on Saturday, Dec. 15. The Grizzlies will travel to Golden, Colorado to duel the Orediggers in their third duel of the season.
Both Adams State and Colorado School of Mines are coming off a near month break from their last competition. The Grizzlies and Orediggers competed at the A3 Performance Invite in Grand Junction, Colorado. The Grizzlies took 6th overall at the invite, and the Orediggers finished in second-place, behind Colorado Mesa University.
This will be the second time the two teams have seen each other this year, but first-time head to head. Last year, the Orediggers came out on top, 123-71. Adams State will be entering this meet with a 0-2 record, while the Orediggers and coming in 2-1. The Grizzlies fell to Colorado Mesa early in the season, and also fell to Western Colorado University. The Orediggers have faced some mutual competition throughout their season. They defeated Western Colorado 155-104, and fell to Colorado Mesa at the A3 Performance Invite.
The Grizzlies are coming in to competition this weekend with some great finishes from A3 Invite. 
Paige McCaskill earned a first-place finish in the 1,000 Freestyle in 11:08.99. McCaskill also took a seventh-place finish in the 1,650 Freestyle. 
Megan Dudden was also a key swimmer in the meet, finishing in 5th in her 200 Breaststroke.
Adams State also had some solid finishes in their relays. The team of 
Claudia Garcia, 
Avery Wilson, 
Gwynaedd Howdyshell and 
Kayle Mashore came in 6th in their 200 Free Relay. The 
Kendalyn Spurr, Mashore, Dudden and Garcia team grabbed 5th in their 400 Medley. The 800 Free Relay team of Dudden, McCaskill, Garcia and Howdyshell finished in 5th.
The Grizzlies are diving in to this meet with a lot of momentum from their long break and solid performance in their last competition. Adams State will hit the blocks on Saturday at 12 p.m. at the CSM Natatorium.
