ALAMOSA, Colo. – Adams State Men's and Women's Swim teams took on Colorado School of Mines today at Plachy Hall. The Women's team fell to the Orediggers 134-68. The Men fell 166-22.
Though not getting the win, the Grizzlies had some great heats today to help propel them in to the early season. The meet opened up with the 400 Medley Relay with the Adams State Relay team of
Emily Walgast,
Olivia Beames,
Megan Dudden and
Davin Ruggles took third in 4:20.18. The Men's 400 Medley Relay followed with the Adams State team of
Nolan Palmer,
Gilbert Benton,
Justin Sandoval and
Ethan Cohen, finishing in 4th.
As the meet continued, Adams State had solid finishes. The Grizzlies had multiple top finishes from Dudden, Garcia and Ruggles. Dudden finished 1st in the 200 Free in 2:05.09. Following the 200 Free was Garcia's 1st place finish in the 50 Free in 26.09. Ruggles completed her 200 Breaststroke in 1st in 2:35.68, over Dudden who placed 3rd in 2:37.19.
Other positive finished came from
Leila Atumah, finishing the 1000 Freestyle in 3rd with Garcia in 4th. Adams State had a good showing in the 100 Freestyle with
Kayle Mashore finishing in 2rd,
Dana McMurtrey in 3rd, and
Katy Heldstab in 4th.
On the men's side, Sandoval had a great outing finishing in 3rd in both the 200 Freestyle in 1:58.30 and 200 Fly 2:07.47.
Ethan Cohen also had a good outing, finishing 3rd in the 100 Freestyle in 56.99.
The Grizzlies will be back on the pool deck Nov. 20-23 in Grand Junction, Colo. to take on the A3 Performance Invite.
