Grizzlies Set to Go Head to Head with Mountaineers

ALAMOSA, Colo. – The Adam's State Women's swim team will face off against Western Colorado this Saturday. The Grizzlies will host the Mountaineers for their last meet of the 2019 portion of their season.

The last time the Grizzlies made a splash in the pool was at the 10th annual Colorado Mesa University A3 Performance Invite. During the meet, the women's team had quite a few strong finishes and personal records achieved for their swimmers.

Starting off the Performance Invite, Madison Rincon and Leila Atumah dropped time off of their 1000 Yard Freestyle race time. In addition, a team of Medan Dudden, Natasha Murphy, Madison Rincon, and Claudia Garcia finished the 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:53. 83. On the second day the Grizzlies finished the 400 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 4:14.80 which was 3 seconds faster than their seed time. The Women's team continued their strong performance for the following days by having at least one swimmer place in the top 16 for the 400 Yard IM, 100 Yard Breaststroke, 100 Yard Backstroke, and a variety of other events.

Most notable of the invite were some of the upperclassmen on the women's team such as Megan Dudden, Claudia Garcia, and Madison Rincon. All three performed well in their individual events as well as their relays, guiding the team to higher placements in the events they were involved in. As a whole, the women's team performed well at the A3 Invite with their strong finishes. It was a team effort that allowed them to perform as they did.

Scouting Western Colorado
Western Colorado Women's swim team comes to Alamosa with an overall record of 5-2-0, also making their first splash back in the pool since the Colorado Mesa A3 Invite. One of the Mountaineers strongest swimmers at the meet was freshman Arden Tesch, who earned 51 points for her team. Also swimming strong was junior Savannah Tice. Both swimmers helped their team to finish 4th overall in the Invite.

In the past years when the Grizzlies have met with the Mountaineers in the pool, they haven't won the meet. Looking to change that, the Adam's State Women's team will hope to give a strong performance and change the tides.

The Grizzlies will hit the deck this weekend for a Saturday afternoon meet at 12 P.M, looking to end their current losing streak.
