GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Adams State University men's team finished in fourth place at the 2021 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships at the El Pomar Natatorium on the campus of Colorado Mesa University.
Saturday's first race was the 100-yard freestyle, in which the Grizzlies had three men compete in this event. Sophomore
Justin Sandoval posted a time of 48.99, followed by freshman Kaden Scott (51.01), and sophomore
Ethan Trotter (54.42).
The second event was the 200-yard backstroke, in which Scott was the only Grizzly to compete in this event as he posted a time of 2:01.23.
The Grizzlies then competed in the 200-yard breaststroke, in which sophomore
Gilbert Benton advanced to the finals and posted a time of 2:01.23.
Freshman
Daniel Tye (2:15.89) and freshman
Jacob Miller (2:28.22) also competed in this event.
The Grizzlies also competed in 1650-yard freestyle. Freshman Indian Steving posted a time of 17:51.05, following Freshman
Coleton Haight (19:20.44).
The final event of the night was the 400-yard freestyle relay. The Grizzlies who competed in this relay were
Justin Sandoval,
Gilbert Benton,
Daniel Tye, and
Ethan Trotter as they posted a time of 3:25.48 to finish on the podium with a third-place finish.
The Grizzlies finished in fourth place with 263 points.
