Box Score DURANGO, Colo.—The Adams State men's soccer team played in full effort as they competed at the Dirks Field soccer complex. The Grizzlies competed in a tough match against Fort Lewis College but took a fall, 4-0.
The first half of the game began with high anticipation as the ball traveled through the field back and forth as each team switched possession. The Grizzlies had many quick responses and attacked the ball consistently, seeking to steal possession of the ball from the Skyhawks. The Skyhawks managed to score a goal on the end of the 12th minute, but the Grizzlies responded back as they began to play more aggressive on the field.
Brayan Fernandez had great potential, showing his intensity on the field to go after the ball. The Skyhawks added pressure to the game as they attempted to make a shot on the 22
nd minute, but Matthew Burcin put his skills to the test and managed to get a save. The Grizzlies did their best to shield the ball away from their territory, as they continued to attack the ball. Despites their efforts the Grizzlies ended the first half trailing 3-0.
The second half began with the Grizzlies being more careful with their passes as they proceeded to battle it out with the Skyhawks. The Skyhawks attempted to make a shot on the 54
th minute but with a great effort by Burcin the Skyhawks weren't able to score. Zarin Santons made his way towards the goal but slightly missed the shot.
Gabriel Maldonado gave it a shot as he made his way to goal and attempted to make a shot in the low center.
ASU pieced together a strong defense as they showed great efforts battling on the field. The Grizzlies did their best to connect with the ball as they moved forward towards Skyhawk territory. There were many direct passes in the mid field by the Grizzlies,
Ranulfo Lopez stayed engaged in the game as he kept possession of the ball. The Grizzlies put up a tough battle until the end but took a fall 4-0 to the Skyhawks.
Overall, the Grizzlies had five shots during the contest, Matthew Brucin had nine saves while allowing four goals, the Skyhawks had 25 shots in the game.
