COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Adams State's
Sydney Muniz was named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) All-Conference Second Team and
Jade Garbiso and
Breck Smith were selected as honorable mention honorees as announced by conference officials this past weekend.
Muniz, a sophomore second baseman from Albuquerque, N.M., played in and started 47 games for the Grizzlies this season as she was second on the squad with a .331 batting average. She had 47 hits this season including 19 extra base hits. Of her 19 extra base hits, Muniz had three home runs while driving in 31 runs. She was 3-of-5 on stolen base attempts.
Garbiso, a starting pitcher and short stop from Pueblo, Colo., was a competitor for the Grizzlies all season, in the field, circle and batter's box. In the box, Garbiso sported the top batting average with a .341 mark as she had 46 hits including four home runs, four triples and 13 doubles. She had 18 RBI but scored a team-high 42 runs. She was also stellar on the base paths as she was 8-of-9 on stolen base attempts.
In the circle, Garbiso was 3-12, as she made 18 appearances and started 17 of those games. She had a 6.63 ERA over 88 2/3 innings of work.
Smith, a junior corner infielder from Grand Junction, Colo., led the Grizzlies in home runs as she had seven. She also tallied four triples and eight doubles as she hit .292 this season.
The Grizzlies finished the 2022 season with a 13-36 record.
