LAS VEGAS – The Grizzlies wrapped up an impressive weekend at the Desert Duals, hosted by Wartburg College, finishing with a 3-1 record. Adams State secured victories over Ottawa, Linfield University and Wartburg 2 in a strong showing on Saturday.
The Grizzlies opened their campaign with a commanding 40-7 win against the Ottawa Braves. Standout performances included technical falls from Katelyn Faczak, Bella Devato and Abby Smith. Brisa Salas, Corrie Williams, Abigail Wold and Brook Newton each added pins to cement the team's dominance.
Adams State continued its momentum in the second dual, defeating Linfield 34-5. Katelyn Faczak showcased her skills with an 11-0 tech fall, while Austria Holland pinned her opponent in just 49 seconds. Corrie Williams earned her second fall of the day, taking down Klaira Flatt in 2:01, and Paige Faler followed suit with a fall at 180 pounds in 2:32.
In a closely contested battle, the Grizzlies prevailed over Wartburg 2 with a narrow 23-20 victory. The win featured a tech fall, two falls and a crucial decision, highlighting Adams State's resilience and depth.
In their final dual of the day, the Grizzlies suffered a 33-14 loss to Schreiner University. After a long day of wrestling, Katelyn Faczak, Corrie Williams and Abby Smith were Adams State's lone victors. Williams capped off an undefeated day with her fourth pin, while Faczak also secured a pin, and Smith added a tech fall to the team's total.
The Grizzlies will take a considerable break, before traveling to Burnaby, British Columbia, to face off against Simon Fraser for a dual on Jan. 17.
