Grand Junction, Colo. – The Adams State women's wrestling team kicked off the 2025–26 season at the Maverick Open, hosted by Colorado Mesa. The Grizzlies had a strong showing, with four of the 14 athletes who traveled earning placements in their respective divisions.
Mia Siqueiros led the way with a runner-up finish in the 103-pound division. After a first-round bye, she advanced with a tech-fall victory in round two and secured a hard-fought 10–8 decision in round three. In the championship match, Siqueiros earned second place after falling by tech fall.
In the 131-pound division, McKenna Hendrickson battled through six matches to claim third place. Following a first-round bye, she recorded a 39-second tech fall in round two. After dropping her next match, Hendrickson rebounded with three pins and another tech fall to secure her podium finish.
Hallie Carter, also in the 131-pound division, won three of her five matches, including two victories by fall and one by decision.
Competing in the 145-pound division, Angella Van Valkenburg earned fifth place, winning three of her five matches with two tech falls and a decision.
The Grizzlies will next travel to Missouri to compete at the Missouri Valley Open Nov. 21–22.
