SHERIDAN, Wyoming — After Day 2 of the Travis Roy Memorial Invitational, the Adams State Women's Golf team finished in twelfth place. On Day 2, the women finished +71, which put them at a final gross score of +138. After the two rounds of golf, the final overall score for the Grizzlies was 714.
The Grizzlies were led by Taylor Butler, who shot +4 for a total score of 76. Butler had a strong second day on the course after shooting +12 on Day 1. On Day 2, Butler parred every hole except four, in which she made a bogey, resulting in her score of +4. Aside from Butler, Keona Weirick scored a gross 87 for a total of +15, Naomi Smith scored 93 for +21, and Kailyn Vigil scored 103 for +31.
Overall, during the two-day invitational, Butler finished +16 with a gross score of 160; Weirick was +26 with a total of 171; Smith was +38 with 182; Vigil was +67 with 211; and Morgan Galloway was +58 with a final gross score of 202.
The Adams State Women's Golf team had a few bright moments in their first Invitational, but will need to show more consistency as a team to place higher at their next tournament. The Grizzlies aim to build on this debut with their young team at the upcoming Invitational in Salt Lake City, Utah. It will be the Westminster Wasatch Invitational, scheduled for September 21st through September 22nd.
