Grand Junction, Colo. – Adams State women's golf closed out play at the Maverick Challenge at Redlands Mesa Golf Course with a fourth-place finish, highlighted by steady improvement across the lineup.
Westminster captured the team title at +57 (633), with Colorado Mesa close behind at +60 (636). Chadron State finished third at +84 (660), while the Grizzlies posted a +209 (785) to secure fourth.
Naomi Smith paced Adams State with an impressive final round, firing a +17 that included three birdies. She showed significant growth from day one, improving by 10 strokes to finish the tournament at +27 overall.
Keona Weirick also made strides in round two, carding a +20 to finish at +46. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on hole 15, contributing to her improved score.
Taylor Butler turned in a +28 in the final round to finish at +55 overall, while Isabel Galloway and Kiera Sanchez rounded out the Grizzlies' efforts with scores of +64 and +79, respectively.
Overall, Adams State showed resilience and progress throughout the tournament, using a strong second round to cap their weekend in Grand Junction. The Grizzlies will now turn their sights to the RMAC Championship which will take place starting on April 19, at Boulder Creek GC in Boulder City, Nevada.
