Butler Puts in Eagle Shot in Adams State’s Spring Opener

Litchfield Park, Ariz. — The Grizzlies got their spring season started on Monday and Tuesday at the Southwest Minnesota State University Spring Invite held at Wigwam Golf Club. Taylor Butler led the charge for Adams State and had a very impressive eagle shot on hole 18 during the second round of play.

Butler was 54th overall in the field of 73 players. She shot +14 and +17 in the two rounds of play. On top of her eagle, she also shot a birdie in each round. Naomi Smith was 63rd in the competition shooting +20 and +18, with one birdie in the first round.

Kiera Sanchez had a birdie of her own in the second round. She shot +32 and +30 in the two rounds of play. Kailyn Vigil and Anastasia Sanchez rounded things out for the Grizzlies, shooting +69 and +70 totals for the 36 holes of competition.

Adams State finished last in the field of 13 teams, shooting a 197-over 773. Western New Mexico took home the team title with a +37 while MSU-Denver's Izabella Pesicka took home individual gold with a +4 performance.

The Grizzlies will look to improve their game next Sunday and Monday at the Southern Colorado Open hosted by CSU-Pueblo at Walking Stick Golf Club.
