VB| Grizzlies wrap up season with 3-1 win over Skyhawks

Box Score ALAMOSA, Colo. (November 14, 2015)—The Adams State University women's volleyball team won tonight in their regular season finale this evening against fellow Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) foe, the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks, by a 3-1 match score on Senior Night. Adams State had previously beaten Fort Lewis during their October 14th meeting.

ASU won tonight via set scores of 25-16, 25-21, 25-21, and 25-22. The Grizzlies dropped the first set but won the next three consecutive sets to send off lone senior Maisy Munson in correct fashion. In her last appearance for the Grizzlies, Munson chipped in with 13 assists and one dig in tonight's affair. Offensively the Grizzlies were led by Mallory Grimsrud and Alex Parker. Grimsrud led the team with 19 kills off of 37 attacks, good for a .432 attacking percentage. Parker picked up 14 kills against the Skyhawks. Setter Katelyn Schwartz led the team with 43 assists.

After conceding the first set to the Skyhawks, the Grizzlies witnessed Fort Lewis jump out to a fast start. FLC hit with a .500 hitting percentage in the first set, but the Grizzly defense settled in thanks to an outstanding defensive performance from standout Mallory Grimsrud. She led the team with eight total blocks and played a significant role in stifling the Skyhawk attack. Moving on from the first set, the Grizzlies only allowed FLC to hit with a .187 hitting percentage for the rest of the game. Gabrielle Timmen posted a season-best 21 dig performance.

Unfortunately the Grizzlies' volleyball season has to close with tonight's win and they will not be participating in the 2015 RMAC Volleyball Championship. Adams season comes to a close with a 10-16 record, 9-9 in RMAC play.
The sports information office would like to wish Maisy Munson good luck with her future endeavors and all the best moving forward from Adams State University.
