Hall of Fame
A 1969 graduate of Adams State, Dr. Rakow was the co-captain All-Conference defensive back and was ranked 10th in the nation for punt returns yardage in 1968.Â
He was a member of the Mineral Water Bowl winning team in 1966 and the RMAC championships in 1967 and 1968.Â
After Adams State he signed as a free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles 1969 and was released to the Pottstown Firebirds, where they were champions for the ACFL in 1969 and playing with Don Alley for the ACFL championship (12-1) in 1970. He then signed with the Chicago Bears in 1971 and was released to the Schuylkill Valley Coal Crackers who won the Seaboard Football League Championship (14-1).
This won't be his first Hall of Fame he will be inducted into, in fact he was a 1995 inductee into the Central Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame after having received the Wilder Outstanding Collegiate Athlete Award in 1969, and a 2004 inductee into the Lebanon Catholic School Athletic Hall of Fame as he coached high school and college sports for 50 years, including basketball.
